City of Bradford Esprit diver Holly Waxman and some of England’s top divers are hoping to stake a claim for a place on the Commonwealth team following last weekend’s British Championships in Plymouth.
The winners of the individual 1m, 3m and 10m events in Plymouth will put themselves at the front of the queue for selection to the Gold Coast.
The runners-up in the same events will also be eligible for selection, if meeting certain qualification standards.
Holly competed in both the 1m and 3m springboard categories, achieving success in the 3m springboard where she was placed 3rd in the junior category and 5th in the open British category. A huge achievement as she has only just turned 15 this year.
The event was also qualification for gaining selection on the junior GBR international diving circuit.
Coun Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Environment, Culture and Sport, said “We are really pleased all the hard work has paid off for Holly. She is proving to be a real winner. From these results we hope she earns selection for her debut Commonwealths later this year.”
The City of Bradford Esprit Diving Club work alongside Bradford Council’s Sport and Culture coaching and training scheme which delivers sessions seven days a week.
